I keep my DeadZone around a quarter inch. Some people drop it all the way. Some people keep it high. It's a delicate balance. The further down you drop your DeadZone, the more your player will "twitch" - meaning he will move without you pushing the analog. If your player is twitching too much, it defeats the purpose of dropping your DeadZone because you won't be able to hit what you're shooting at. Find your G spot and you should be dropping opponets within a few hits. See Sniping below for a drawback to low DeadZone.
Improving Hit Percentage:
• Don't use a sniper scope on your assult rifle (also, try to use a silencer rather than frags or bursts [use grenades] because it hides your location when shooting opponets). Using a scope will prevent you from properly sniping.
• Play in First Person View. It seems to increase your accuracy. I'm not sure if it's meant to, or if it just keeps my guy from twitching as much, but it definitely helps.
• When locked on to an opponent it's usually best to stop and crouch when you open fire. This greatly improves your accuracy. Use this method cautiously. Obviously, you don't want to crouch out in the open when you've only got a 1/8 bar of life left. If you're down on health try to find cover (rock, tree) from which to crouch and fire.
• Sniping = One hit kills. Using no scope, zoom in ALL the way. Looking far off into the distance you can see opponents. If you get your crosshairs directly on the opponent, he will drop with one shot. Sniping can be greatly affected by dropping your DeadZone too low. If you set your DeadZone too low your crosshairs will drift alot faster, making it difficult to stop on an opponent and fire.
